Have you seen Cook County’s new sustainability website? http://blog.cookcountyil.gov/sustainability/
At Cook County we want to lead by example. At the site you’ll find information about County projects to lower our environmental footprint and our costs.
We also want to share the innovative work that communities in Cook County are doing to create an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable County. This website will let us share success stories so communities and partners can learn from each other.
On April 3, 2012 the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved the Solid Waste Plan Update. The Plan has now been sent to the Illinois EPA for final approval.
In 2010 the Cook County Department of Environmental Control was tasked with distributing and managing over $12.6 million dollars in federal stimulus funds for energy efficiency projects within Cook County.
One year and over sixty projects later, communities across Cook County are creating jobs while reducing their energy costs. Learn more about EECBG projects here.
